Meeting on November 7th

We discussed When Heaven and Earth Changed Places over another lovely lunch at Mimi's Cafe today. Those of us who were able to make it, gave grades ranging from B+, A-, and A. Our conversation covered historical context, cultural observations, and some criticism of Le Ly's decision-making skills.

As we discussed the novel, we discovered a couple of things: (1.) Most of us have finished or nearly finished the book despite our extended reading time and (2.) all of those who were present today are very interested in the sequel Child of War, Woman of Peace and the movie Heaven and Earth. In light of these discoveries, the following was decided.
  • Dec. 5th @ 12:15pm: Meet at Country Rose Tea Room at 163 H Street to discuss Child of War, Woman of Peace (Camilla will make reservations for us.)

  • At some point after we finish Child of War, Woman of Peace, we plan to get together for a movie night to watch Heaven and Earth. We'll need to decide the details for this event at our next meeting.

  • Jan. 9 @ 12:15pm: Meet to discuss Into the Wild (Notice the change of date -- many of us will still be gone on vacation on Jan. 2)

Happy reading and Happy Thanksgiving!
